{"id":1325,"date":"2017-10-05T21:15:29","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T21:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.walkingfromthelaw.com\/?p=1325"},"modified":"2023-02-18T22:06:25","modified_gmt":"2023-02-18T22:06:25","slug":"day-101-flat-ish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingfromthelaw.com\/index.php\/2017\/10\/05\/day-101-flat-ish\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 101: Flat-ish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Date: &nbsp;July 19, 2017<br \/>\nMiles: 1738.6 &#8211; 1770.9<\/p>\n<p>True to what we\u2019ve heard about Oregon, the trail is relatively flat in this section, although \u2018flat\u2019 is a relative term. &nbsp;Usually by this time, a hiker has been anywhere from near sea-level up to the highest point in the lower 48, with a lot of ups and downs in between, so the generally rolling hills of Oregon seem very benign in comparison and big miles can be done easily. &nbsp;The trail here, though, is still a good workout.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From the Little Hyatt Reservoir, we hiked into the Rogue River National Forest and the terrain made a drastic turn to fields filled in with contrasting red and black lava rock.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/img_4437-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"398\" height=\"300\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/img_4437-1.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1385\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_4435.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_4435.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1326\"><\/a><br \/>\nThe day was largely uneventful, consisting mostly of quiet minutes stretching into hours among the trees, and a glimpse of Mt. McLoughlin<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nWe\u2019re trying to get to Bend by the end of the month, so we\u2019re ramping up the miles. We did 32 today and will do another 30 tomorrow.
