Washington disappointed me a bit with the cold, rainy, foggy morning. I woke up to the sound of light rain tapping on the roof of my tent and remembered that I had left my pack and my shoes in an exposed spot. \u00a0I mentally prepared myself to be soggy.<\/p>\n

There were no views to be had while we were hiking and our breaks were miserably short because we had to keep moving in order to get the feeling back into our hands and feet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We cheered up after lunch when the clouds broke up a bit and let the sun warm us as we climbed hills and walked around ledges, admiring the views of jagged peaks and spring green saddles that had appeared with the clearing weather.\u00a0 We also got a morale boost when a section hiker named GoalTech came our way with a bag full of chips and caramel candies that he was handing out to hikers that he came across. \u00a0 It was much appreciated!<\/p>\n

The temperature dropped quickly by the time we reached camp at Lake Sally Ann. I put on all of my clothing in an attempt to stay warm through dinner, but I was still uncomfortably chilly by the time I decided to take everything to my tent and finish eating under the warmth of my quilt to the serenading chorus of pika ‘meeps.’ I read some Game of Thrones while I thawed out in my tent and eventually drifted off.<\/p>\n
