I hate waking up early, but I love watching the sunrise while I eat my cold oatmeal, so nearly every morning i’m conflicted. This morning I chose the sunrise, and it was worth it to watch it burst over the mountain tops, illuminate Mica Lake and to feel it slowly warm my face.<\/p>\n

The sun stayed out for us all day and we had a typical August-in-Washington kind of day – warm and a little humid. There were a lot of cold, glacial water sources to take advantage of, which I was grateful for after starting the morning with a five mile climb.<\/p>\n

A ten mile descent took us down to the Suiattle River.<\/p>\n

We then meandered through a forest thick with tightly grained trees until a final three mile climb up to a campsite near Miner’s Creek.<\/p>\n
