Even though none of us talked last night about sleeping in this morning, we each made the same decision to sleep in until about 7 am when the sun could rise up above the mountains that surrounded us and dry out all of our gear.<\/p>\n

We took our time getting ready, boiling water for coffee and draping our tents and things over trees and rocks like a yard sale.\u00a0 Everyone else that we could see camped near us seemed to have the same idea.<\/p>\n

We got around to hiking at about 9:30 and did twelve miles to the Edison Lake ferry that took us to the Vermilion Valley Resort where we planned to pick up resupply boxes, spend the night and get cleaned up.\u00a0 The ferry ride was beautiful, and when we got there we really enjoyed the free beer that every thru-hiker gets, the free camping, and the fantastic dinner and pie from the small restaurant on-site. Afterwards I grabbed a book from the little free library and excitedly headed for my tent to get bundled up in my quilt early. I read a mystery novel, warm and cozy, while thunder and lightning conducted their nightly ritual across the sky.<\/p>\n
