{"id":966,"date":"2017-07-11T16:27:48","date_gmt":"2017-07-11T16:27:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.walkingfromthelaw.com\/?p=966"},"modified":"2023-02-18T22:06:26","modified_gmt":"2023-02-18T22:06:26","slug":"day-69-butt-skiing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walkingfromthelaw.com\/index.php\/2017\/07\/11\/day-69-butt-skiing\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 69: Butt Skiing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Date: June 17, 2017<br \/>\nMiles: 1168.5 &#8211; 1184.7&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I never get tired of waking up to a sunrise on the top of a mountain. &nbsp;I am working on not getting tired of snow.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;Hiking started with the sun cups again, and the slush that made every step twice as difficult as it should have been, but it was a manageable kind of tough going.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3382.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3382.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-957\"><\/a><br \/>\nI kept trying to boot ski down the slopes like Matthew and Roi do so successfully (I&#8217;ve been trying for DAYS), and I kept landing on my ass (as I&#8217;ve been doing for DAYS). &nbsp;Between the falling and glissading in running shorts, I&#8217;m pretty sore and scratched up and I&#8217;ve left a good bit of my butt in the mountains. Mercifully, the snow ended around mile 1180. I have never been so happy to see bare trail and I have sworn that I will never complain about it again (ha! I&#8217;m sure I will).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3389-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3389-1.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-958\"><\/a><br \/>\nWe had a much, much easier walk from then on. &nbsp;Toward the end of the day, we stopped at Pass Creek and took a quick bath in the icy water, which was a welcome relief from the ongoing heat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_959\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-959\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3403-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3403-1.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-959\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-959\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pass creek.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We then strolled the last mile to a nice flat campground and had dinner with Orca, or rather, we ate more of Orca&#8217;s gourmet food because it&#8217;s way better than ours, before the bugs drove us all to our respective tents for the night.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_960\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-960\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3408.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/178.128.8.170\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/img_3408.jpg\" title=\"\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-960\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-960\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dinner time &#8211;
