“It’s a long way just to make it to the border line.” Houndmouth, Come On, Illinois
TODAY WE MADE IT TO CANADA!
Even though we knew that we still had to head back to the Sierras to finish the trail, this was an exciting day. I had butterflies in my stomach as I walked the forested six miles to the monument marking the northern terminus of the trail at the border between the United States and Canada and I couldn’t stop smiling when I got there. We spent a couple hours soaking in the accomplishment, then hiked the remaining eight miles to Manning Park, where JD’s uncle Val was waiting for us with celebratory beers. The guy drove all the way from the Bay area in California to pick us up. WE LOVE YOU VAL!!
Tim had reserved a room for us at the Manning Park Resort, so we made that our last stop in Canada and relaxed with some poutine, hot showers and the feeling of having done something that we’ll never forget.
Congrats! I loved that last section to the border last year when I did it. Your pictures are stunning. Well done!
Thank you! What an amazing trail, huh?
